I have been travelling with the train since my first year, commuting to and from university. Everyday seems to be an adventure when travelling with the train, from cancelled trains; to blind people singing whilst begging for money; to just plain crazy people who should be locked up in a mental institution; to gothic people who are just completely strange.
When it is pension day the trains are usually packed with old people travelling to collect their pensions or sometimes certain old-age homes have a day-out to the beach. It really facinates me to see so many old people gather in one place and that is excluding hospitals. I sometimes wonder as to whether they had a good life and acheived all their goals and aspirations.
The "best time" to travel with the train is in winter... Every other train is cancelled and you can forget about getting to work or university on time. Nobody really cares if you have deadlines that need to be met. Yet I still choose to travel with the train- It is cheaper than travelling with a car though.
Sometimes I come across really foward guys on the train who want to know your name and number. They even look at you like you are a piece of meat- Eew! Aah... they "joys" of travelling with the train... sigh...
Call me inquistive, but sometimes people talk so loudly on the train that you cannot help but listen to their conversations. It ranges from relationship problems; to frustrations at work; to plans for the weekend.
My most favourite part of travelling with the train is people-watching. Many thoughts run through my mind as i watch people getting on and off the train. Where do they work, where are they going, do they have children, did they study further after high school- The list is endless.
But you have not lived- or slept for that matter- until you have slept on the train. It is the best sleep you will ever have. The motion of the train rocks you to asleep as if you were sleeping in a cradle. There have been plenty of times when I have passed out on the train and woken up feeling refreshed and revitalised. I must say that I have woken up to realise that I have already passed my station- Touch wood.
Even though there are many "joys" of travelling with the train but it is something that I would definitely miss it. I would miss the strange and interesting people, and not forgetting the fact that I will not be able to complete tech work on the train should I decide to travel with a car.
