The end is near

I can’t believe that we have just over a month left at tech and then we will have completed our Btech. It is such a relief that this year is finally coming to an end but the mere thought of the ‘real world’ lurking around the corner makes me feeling very anxious for what lies ahead.

It is time to say goodbye to tech holidays, afternoon naps, Friday’s off and a relatively easy-going lifestyle. It is also time to say hello working world, SARS tax forms, demanding bosses and uncooperative colleagues- oh the joys!
But we all have to enter the working world sooner or later.

Let us make the most of these last few months and give it our all even though we might be feeling despondent. We have put in many long hours and we will soon reach the benefits of it. We just need to stay positive and keep going- easier said than done right? Letting go…

Letting go can be one of the hardest challenges that life throws at us. It is one of those things that are easier said than done. It might require a lot of thought and time, but hopefully you will reap the benefits of a positive outcome.

I am sure that you have all experienced letting go of something near and dear to your hearts.
You might need to let go of old memories that you and a ex-boyfriend or girlfriend share, but it is up to you whether or not you want to let go of this.
A death might occur in the family and coming to terms with that is always extremely difficult.
You might even need to let go of a friendship gone sour.
Whatever the situation might be, one should always find the silver lining to the situation. It might not be clear to us at that specific time, but later it is always revealed to us.

Just a thought: Let go of all the weeds in your garden of life because there should only be place for pretty flowers.

What motivates me?

When I read this week’s blog topic it really made me ponder… I came to the conclusion that it is the little things in life that motivates me.

It is a few encouraging words from your mother or father that gets you through the day, even though you might not realise it.
It is the family and friends that you have. The thought of having people in your life that care about your well-being is more than enough to keep me motivated.
It is the beautiful city that you live. Who wouldn’t want to live life to the fullest when you are constantly surrounded by such beauty?
The tweets of fellow classmates can definitely motivate you. A constant update on their progress is very motivating. It is like a wake-up call for me to get started on my work.
It is the faith that you have in God. He gives us the strength, health and wealth we need to get through each day.
It is the success stories of those who have been diagnosed with a terminal illness, and are now are living life to the fullest.
It is the sayings that you read in random places such as, ‘make every moment count.’
It is the thought that there are people out there that are worse off than us. It makes appreciate what you have.
Being smiled at by a complete stranger, at least you don’t go unrecognised.

It is important to know what motivates you, so that you don’t lose sight of the goals and aspirations you want to achieve in life.

Best Friends…

Best friends are there when you need a shoulder to cry on.
They do everything together and are joined at the hip.
Some would say that they are like twins and the fondness that they have for each other even makes them look alike.
They will stand by each other through the good times and the bad times.
Best friends will always cover up for each other no matter what the situation.
A best friend is someone you can tell your deepest-darkest secrets to and not feel judged.
A best friend is someone you will forever cherish and no matter what happens with the friendship you will always be able to pick up where you left off.
You might not always see your best friend but at least you know that you have someone who you can always count on.
Friends may come and go but best friends are forever.

Elephant in the room

“Mommy, Mommy! Come see, quickly!” Stacy screamed excitedly from her bedroom upstairs.
Her mother came bursting through the bedroom door thinking that something horrible has happened.
“What! What is it Stacey?” Her mother exclaimed breathlessly.
“I want you to meet my new friend, Ella the elephant” Stacey said with a huge grin and a sparkle in her eyes.
“Goodness, I thought something was wrong. Okay, so where is this Ella the elephant?” Her mother asked.
“She’s right her Mommy, in my room,” explained Stacey.
Her mother had a very puzzled look on her face. There really wasn’t an elephant in her room, not a stuffed animal or even a picture thereof.
“She sleeps in my cupboard at night and when I go to play school. She only comes out when I’m at home because she is very shy. But today Ella said that she wants to meet you,” Stacey elaborated in detail.
“Okay, honey, you and Ella have fun. Don’t do anything naughty now,” warned her mother.
Her mother trotted down the stairs whilst thinking to herself, goodness an elephant in her room, what next.
