Congratulations to South Africa for hosting the most memorable soccer world cup. Who would have thought that we would be able to pull off an event of world class stature?
Unfortunately the world cup has come and gone like the wind, whilst managing to leave a memorable legacy in the hearts and minds of both locals and foreigners.
I was very fortunate to attend and experience the world cup first hand (so-to-speak). No, I wasn’t involved in the planning but I attended the very first match in Cape Town- France vs. Uruguay. Wow! What an experience! The atmosphere and the camaraderie were out of this world. Everyone was united as football fanatics and neither race nor language was able to separate us. I have never seen Cape Town like that before not even on New Year ’s Eve. It felt like I was in a totally different country.
I am proudly South African and really impressed by our nation. I can agree with you on the atmosphere as I was also fortunate enough to attend a match. It was totally awesome...
ReplyDeleteI loved the World Cup experience! I too attended a match and WOW, what an atmosphere. I am sad that the world cup had to leave so soon, but i do hope that SA keeps on to this sense of togetherness and not pick up where it has left off before the World Cup.
ReplyDeleteIt went so quick, I will really miss it. everything about the 2010 World Cup made South Africa special. The World Cup allowed us to show a side to mourselves as well as to the world, a side that we never really new. It existed, while we never unveiled it
